Railway Station Cab Service in Ahmedabad

Cabs service in Ahmedabad

Arriving by train with luggage, or catching an early-morning train out of Ahmedabad? Happy Car Rental provides pre-booked cabs to and from the city’s main railway stations, so you are not left bargaining with autos outside the station.

Stations We Cover

  • Ahmedabad Junction (Kalupur) — the city’s main station.
  • Sabarmati — convenient for the north and west of the city.
  • Maninagar — handy for the south-east of Ahmedabad.
  • Other stations such as Gandhinagar Capital on request.

Station Pickup and Drop

  • Pickup on arrival: share your train number and coach; your driver will be waiting near the station exit and will call you on arrival.
  • Drop for departures: we pick you up from home or your hotel with time to spare for platform changes and luggage.
  • Station to another city: continue your journey by road with a one-way taxi to cities across Gujarat.

Which Car to Book

A Swift Dzire suits up to 4 passengers with 3 bags. Families or groups with more luggage should book an Ertiga or Innova Crysta (up to 6 passengers, 4 bags). For short city transfers see one-way city cabs.

Which Station Is Right for You?

Ahmedabad has more than one major railway station, and some trains stop at only one or two of them. Before booking your cab, check the station name printed on your ticket — not just “Ahmedabad”.

Ahmedabad Junction (Kalupur)

The main station in the heart of the old city. Most long-distance trains start, end or stop here. It is central, but the surrounding roads are among the busiest in Ahmedabad.

Sabarmati

On the northern side of the city. Some trains start or end at Sabarmati instead of Kalupur. It is often the more convenient choice for people living in Chandkheda, Motera, Ranip, Sabarmati and parts of the west, and it is closer to the airport.

Maninagar

In the south-east, near Kankaria. Several trains on the Mumbai–Vadodara line stop here. If you live in Maninagar, Isanpur, Vatva or Narol, getting on or off at Maninagar can save a trip into the old city.

Gandhinagar Capital

Useful for passengers going to or coming from Gandhinagar sectors and GIFT City, if your train stops there.

If your train stops at more than one of these, pick the station closest to your home or hotel. A shorter road leg often matters more than a few extra minutes on the train.

Kalupur: Getting the Meeting Point Right

Ahmedabad Junction has entrances on both sides of the tracks — the main city side towards Kalupur and Relief Road, and the Saraspur side to the east. The two are not close to each other by road, so getting this right matters.

  • When booking, tell us which side you prefer, or let us suggest one based on your destination.
  • Once you get off the train, call your driver before walking out. He will confirm which exit he is near.
  • Do not walk out of one side expecting to find the car on the other — use the foot overbridge inside the station if you need to switch.
  • The area just outside the main entrance is crowded with autos and private vehicles. Your driver may wait a short walk away where a car can stop safely.

Coordinating Your Pickup

Trains run late more often than flights, sometimes by hours. These steps help your pickup go smoothly:

  1. Share your train number and coach when booking, as well as the scheduled arrival time.
  2. Message us when your train leaves the previous major stop — for example, Vadodara or Nadiad for trains from the Mumbai side, or Mehsana for trains from the north.
  3. Call your driver when the train is pulling in, not after you have walked out with your bags.
  4. Check the car number before loading luggage.

If your train is running very late, let us know so the driver’s arrival can be adjusted.

Station to Airport (and Airport to Station)

Train-to-flight connections are common for travellers from smaller towns. Because train delays can be unpredictable, keep a generous gap:

  • Leave several hours between your scheduled train arrival and your flight’s departure, more for international flights.
  • Sabarmati is closer to the airport than Kalupur or Maninagar. If your train stops there, getting off at Sabarmati can save time.
  • Keep your flight ticket and ID in your hand luggage, not in a bag that gets loaded first into the boot.

Coming the other way, from a flight to a train, the same logic applies: allow for baggage time at the airport and traffic into the old city if your train leaves from Kalupur. For the airport side of the trip, see our airport taxi page.

Early-Morning Trains

Many trains towards Mumbai, Delhi and Saurashtra leave early in the morning. For an early departure:

  • Book the night before at the latest, and confirm your pickup time.
  • Aim to reach the station 30–45 minutes before departure, more if you have heavy luggage or need to find a coach far down the platform.
  • Check the platform number on the station display as soon as you arrive; it can change.
  • Carry your ticket on your phone and a printed copy if you are travelling with elderly family members.

Arriving by Train Late at Night

Several long-distance trains reach Ahmedabad between midnight and dawn. At that hour, the area around Kalupur can feel confusing, and autos may quote high fares. A pre-booked car avoids that:

  • Stay inside the station concourse until your driver confirms he is at the exit.
  • Forward the driver’s details to someone at home before you step out.
  • Keep your bags close while you wait; stations are busy even at night.
  • If your train is delayed past midnight, message us so the pickup time can be adjusted.

Large Families and Heavy Luggage

Railway travel often means more luggage than air travel — wedding shopping, cartons of food, gifts for relatives, bedding for a long trip. Plan the car accordingly:

  • For 4–6 people with full-size suitcases, book an Ertiga or an Innova Crysta.
  • For a large family or a wedding party arriving together, book two cars and assign passengers to each before the train arrives.
  • Porters (coolies) are available inside the station for moving heavy bags from the coach to the exit. Agree on their charges directly before they start.
  • Keep fragile or valuable items with you rather than in a stacked boot.

Skipping the Train Altogether

For some routes, a car can be a practical alternative when trains are full or timings do not suit you — especially for families travelling together. If you are comparing, see our Ahmedabad to Mumbai one-way travel option, or ask us about other cities in Gujarat.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you pick up from trains arriving at night?

Yes. We operate 24/7, including late-night and early-morning arrivals.

What if my train is late?

Share your train number when booking so we can track delays, and keep your driver’s number handy.

Can I book a station-to-airport transfer?

Yes. Tell us your train arrival and flight times, and we will plan the transfer with a comfortable buffer.

My ticket says Sabarmati, not Ahmedabad. Is that the same station?

No. Sabarmati is a separate station in the north of the city. Tell us the exact station when booking so the driver goes to the right place.

Which side of Kalupur station will the driver wait on?

We agree this with you when booking, usually based on where you are going. Call your driver before exiting to confirm the side.

How much time should I keep between a train arrival and a flight?

Keep several hours, as trains can run late. Getting off at Sabarmati, if your train stops there, shortens the drive to the airport.
