Ahmedabad to Nashik, Shirdi & Trimbakeshwar Taxi

Nashik, Trimbakeshwar and Shirdi form a pilgrimage circuit in Maharashtra that many families from Ahmedabad cover in one trip. It takes in Ramkund and Panchavati in Nashik, the Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga near the source of the Godavari, and Sai Baba’s Samadhi Mandir at Shirdi. Nashik alone is about 480–500 km away, so this is a multi-day journey.

Planning the circuit

Nashik is the closest of the three to Ahmedabad, so most families go there first. Trimbakeshwar is about 30 km from Nashik, and Shirdi is roughly 90 km from Nashik in the other direction. A four-day plan is the comfortable minimum; with elders or small children, five days is easier.

The drive into Maharashtra

The Gujarat part follows the expressway to Vadodara and NH48 south. The car then leaves the highway and climbs the Sahyadri ghats into Maharashtra. Drivers often go via Saputara, though the choice depends on road conditions at the time. The hill section is a single carriageway with hairpin bends and slow trucks, so cross it in daylight where possible.

Border tax, tolls and billing

A commercial vehicle entering Maharashtra from Gujarat has to pay interstate tax at the border. This is not included in the per-km fare and is added to the bill along with tolls and parking. The amount depends on the vehicle and the length of the permit, so confirm it when booking and keep the receipts.

Round trips are billed on a 300 km per day minimum. On days when you only make short temple runs in Nashik or Shirdi, that minimum still applies, along with the daily driver allowance. Darshan tips

• Trimbakeshwar: queues are long on Mondays, in the month of Shravan and around Mahashivratri, so go early in the morning. Rituals such as Narayan Nagbali or Kalsarp Shanti are booked with the priests in advance and can take most of a day, so tell us if you plan one.
• Shirdi: Thursdays, Guru Purnima, Ram Navami and Vijayadashami bring large crowds. Check darshan and aarti arrangements with the Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust before you travel.
• Nashik: Ramkund, the Kalaram temple and Sita Gufa are close together in Panchavati. Park once and walk between them.
• Kumbh years: the Simhastha Kumbh at Nashik and Trimbakeshwar is expected in 2027. Expect very heavy crowds and traffic restrictions, and book well ahead if your dates fall in that period.

Pickup, drop and life on the road

We pick up from your home anywhere in Ahmedabad. At the temple towns, cars often have to stop at designated parking areas, and you walk the last part to the temple. The driver waits there or at your hotel and picks you up when you call. Keep valuables and darshan passes with you rather than in the car.

When travelling with elders, plan each darshan for the quieter part of the day, usually early morning, and keep the afternoons for rest at the hotel. Carry regular medicines, a small folding stool if queues are expected, and copies of ID for everyone. Long queues in the heat are the most tiring part of the trip, so it is worth adjusting the day around them.

Pack for four or five days: comfortable footwear that is easy to slip off at temples, a light shawl for early mornings in winter, and rain gear in the monsoon.

Choosing a vehicle

• Ertiga: a family of up to six with luggage for several days.
• Innova Crysta: elders, long road days and the ghat climbs. The extra legroom makes a real difference over a 1,000 km trip.
• Dzire: two or three adults travelling light.
• Winger, Tempo Traveller or Toofan: satsang groups, extended families and society groups of up to eleven.

October to March is the most comfortable season for this circuit. If you travel in the monsoon or at festival time, leave extra days in your plan.
