Getting to Nadiad by road

Nadiad is the first large town on the way from Ahmedabad towards Vadodara. Most drivers take the Ahmedabad–Vadodara Expressway and leave at the Nadiad exit. The older national highway is a slower alternative that passes through more built-up stretches. On a clear road, the drive takes a little over an hour. Allow more time if you are leaving from the western suburbs during office hours.

Inside Nadiad, the roads around the station, the old town and the temple area are narrow and crowded, especially in the evening. Your driver will try to drop you as close as possible. Sometimes you will have to walk the last short stretch.

Common reasons for the trip

  • Santram Mandir: a well-known spiritual centre in Nadiad that many families from Ahmedabad visit regularly. It is especially busy on festival days and full-moon days.
  • Medical visits: Nadiad has well-established hospitals that draw patients from across Gujarat. Many of our Nadiad bookings are for patients going for a consultation or a follow-up, with a family member and the car waiting.
  • Heritage interest: Nadiad is associated with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and with several Gujarati writers and public figures. Visitors interested in that history often include the town in a Kheda district day.
  • Education and family: there are colleges and schools in and around Nadiad, and many families have relatives here, so drops for weddings and functions are common.

Travelling for a hospital appointment

Hospital trips need different planning from a temple visit, so here are a few practical points:

  • Book for the time you need to reach the hospital, not the time you want to leave home. We will work backwards from your appointment.
  • If the patient has had a procedure or finds it hard to sit upright, an Innova Crysta or Ertiga gives more legroom and an easier seat height than a sedan.
  • Tell us if a wheelchair or walker has to travel with you so we can make sure the boot has space.
  • Consultations often run late. With a round trip, the driver waits for you. With a one-way drop, you will need to arrange the return separately.

One-way drop or round trip?

A round trip from Ahmedabad to Nadiad is only about 110–130 km. Outstation round trips are billed on a 300 km minimum per day, counted garage to garage, so a simple return to Nadiad will be charged as 300 km. We would rather you know this before booking than be surprised by the bill.

  • If you only need to get there, the Ahmedabad to Nadiad one-way taxi is the sensible choice, because you pay for one direction only.
  • If you need the car to wait for a long hospital visit, or you plan to see more than one place, a round trip gives you the car and driver for the whole day.

Rates for each vehicle are listed on the taxi tariff page. Toll and parking are extra on round trips.

Using the rest of the day

Since a round trip is billed for 300 km anyway, it is worth adding nearby places. Popular options:

  • Vadtal: the Swaminarayan temple at Vadtal is a short drive from Nadiad and is often visited on the same day.
  • Dakor: Nadiad and the Ranchhodraiji temple at Dakor make a common pilgrimage pair. See our Ahmedabad to Dakor taxi page.
  • Anand: just down the road, useful if you have family or work there too. See the Ahmedabad to Anand taxi page.

A Nadiad–Vadtal–Dakor circuit makes a relaxed full day from Ahmedabad. Ask us to estimate the total kilometres before you confirm.

Where we pick up and drop

We pick up anywhere in Ahmedabad: homes in Vastral or Naroda, offices on SG Highway, hotels near Ashram Road, Ahmedabad Junction or the airport. In Nadiad, typical drop points are Santram Mandir, the hospitals, Nadiad railway station, colleges and residential societies. A WhatsApp location pin helps the driver reach the right gate.

Picking the right car

For one or two passengers, a Dzire is enough on this short highway run. Families of five or six, or patients who need space to stretch, are more comfortable in an Ertiga or Innova Crysta. For groups visiting Santram Mandir together, such as a society outing or an extended family, a 9 seater Winger, an 11 seater Tempo Traveller or a Toofan keeps everyone in one vehicle. That also makes parking near the temple simpler than with several cars.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far is Nadiad from Ahmedabad?

About 55–60 km one way. In normal traffic the drive takes a little over an hour, and longer if you leave the city during peak hours.

Is a one-way taxi to Nadiad available?

Yes. If you only need a drop, book the Ahmedabad to Nadiad one-way taxi and pay for one direction only. For a same-day return with waiting, a round trip is better, but it is billed on the 300 km daily minimum.

Can I combine Nadiad with Vadtal and Dakor in one day?

Yes. This is a common day trip. Start early, and confirm the total distance with us when booking, because kilometres above 300 are charged per km.

Which car is suitable for a patient travelling to a Nadiad hospital?

An Ertiga or Innova Crysta usually suits better than a sedan because of the extra legroom and easier seating. Tell us about any wheelchair or medical equipment when you book.
