After You Land: A Step-by-Step Guide

Here is what a typical arrival looks like, from the moment the wheels touch down to the moment you sit in your car.

1. Switch your phone on while taxiing. Check for a message from us or your driver — it will have the car number and his name.
2. Send a quick “landed” message. This tells your driver to start moving to the pickup area. You do not need to call yet.
3. Collect your bags. On busy evenings the baggage belt can take a while. International passengers also need to clear immigration and customs first.
4. Call your driver before you exit. Once you have your bags, call him and agree where to meet — he will tell you the spot.
5. Check the car number before loading bags. Match it with the details we sent you.

That is all there is to it. Most problems at arrivals come from phones that are switched off or numbers that were not saved, so keep both ready.

Finding Your Driver at Arrivals

Airport pickup areas can be crowded, particularly when several flights land together. A few habits make it much easier to find each other:

• Stay near the terminal exit after your call rather than walking out into the parking area on your own.
• Describe yourself — a bright jacket, a red suitcase, a child on your shoulders — so the driver can spot you.
• If you are travelling with someone else, one person can stay with the bags while the other looks for the car.
• Do not hand your luggage to anyone who has not confirmed your name and booking.

Flight Delays, Early Arrivals and Diversions

Delays

Because you gave us your flight number, a delay of an hour or so is usually easy to manage. For long delays — or if your flight is rescheduled to the next morning — message us so we can re-plan the pickup rather than keep a driver waiting through the night.

Early arrival

Flights sometimes land 20–30 minutes early. If that happens, send your “landed” message straight away so the driver can head in.

Diversions

Occasionally, bad weather or other issues divert a flight to a different airport. If that happens, tell us where you have landed and what the airline is planning. If you decide to come to Ahmedabad by road, we can discuss a one-way car from there; otherwise we will simply reschedule your Ahmedabad airport pickup.

Arriving Late at Night

Many international flights and some domestic flights land between midnight and 5 am. A pre-booked car is the calmest way to get home at that hour, and a few simple steps add peace of mind:

• Forward the driver’s name, mobile and car number to a family member before you leave the terminal.
• Share your live location with someone at home for the drive.
• Sit in the rear seat, and keep your handbag and phone with you rather than in the boot.

Extra Luggage and Oversized Items

The luggage numbers we quote for each car (3 bags in a Dzire, 4 in an Ertiga or Innova Crysta) are for standard suitcases. Some arrivals bring a lot more:

• Returning from abroad: two large check-in bags per person plus cartons is common. One family of four with this much luggage may need an Innova Crysta, or a sedan plus a second car.
• Long items: golf bags, cricket kits, guitar cases and surfboards may not fit a sedan boot. Tell us the approximate size.
• Wheelchairs and walkers: a folded wheelchair takes up most of a sedan’s boot — book a larger car.
• Fragile parcels or sweets boxes: keep them on your lap or the seat rather than under heavy bags.

Several People Landing on Different Flights

For weddings, conferences and family reunions, guests often arrive on different flights within a few hours of each other. It is tempting to make one car wait for everyone, but that usually leaves the first arrivals sitting at the airport for a long time.

• List every guest with flight number, arrival time and drop address.
• Group arrivals that land within about 30–45 minutes of each other into one car, if the luggage fits.
• Book separate pickups for flights that are far apart.
• Give each guest the details of their own driver, not a shared list.

• Weather: summers (roughly March to June) are very hot, and the monsoon (roughly June to September) can bring sudden heavy showers and slow traffic.
