The table below gives a rough starting point for when your cab should leave home, counted back from your flight’s departure time. It combines the usual reporting time at the airport with typical road time from each area. Treat it as a guide and add more time at peak hours.

For a 5 am or 6 am flight, roads are emptier and you can lean towards the shorter end. For evening flights between 6 pm and 9 pm, lean towards the longer end, as office traffic on SG Highway, Ashram Road and the SP Ring Road junctions builds up quickly.

Common Mistakes That Make People Late

Most missed flights are not caused by the drive itself but by small things before and after it. Watch out for these:

• Counting from boarding time instead of departure time. Plan backwards from departure, and remember gates close before that.
• Forgetting the society gate. Gated complexes sometimes take several minutes to let a car in at night.
• Last-minute packing. Ten minutes spent closing a suitcase at the door is ten minutes taken out of your buffer.
• Not knowing the terminal. Check whether your flight leaves from Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 and tell the driver at the start of the trip.
• Adding a stop without telling anyone. A quick stop to collect a relative can easily turn into twenty minutes.

If Your Flight Changes
