Ahmedabad to Gandhidham Taxi Service

Gandhidham is the commercial town of eastern Kutch, built next to Kandla port and close to the Kandla special economic zone. Most of our passengers on this route travel for work: port and shipping firms, logistics and customs agents, timber and salt traders, and engineers visiting factories in the area. Others are families going home or heading on into Kutch.

Happy Car Rental runs taxis from Ahmedabad to Gandhidham at any hour, with a driver who knows the highway and the port side of town. You can book a drop, a same-day return or a car that stays with you for several days of meetings.

The road to Gandhidham

Gandhidham is roughly 280–300 km from Ahmedabad, about 5–6 hours by car. The route heads west via Sanand and Viramgam, reaches Malia, crosses into Kutch over the Surajbari bridge, and then goes past Samakhiali to Gandhidham. It is a four-lane highway for most of the way, but it carries a very large share of the state’s port cargo, so truck traffic is heavy at all hours.

If you have a morning meeting, a departure around 4 or 5 am usually gets you there before office hours. For an afternoon appointment, leaving after breakfast is enough. The usual tea and meal stops are the highway hotels near Malia and Samakhiali.

Business travel to Kandla, Mundra and the SEZ

Deendayal Port (Kandla) is only a short drive from Gandhidham, and the town is surrounded by container freight stations, warehouses, timber yards and salt works. Mundra port is roughly 60 km further west along the coast. A car with a driver makes it easy to cover several of these sites in one day without waiting for local transport.

  • Share the full list of addresses when booking, so the day’s km can be estimated in advance.
  • Port and SEZ gates have their own entry rules. Carry your ID and the gate pass or invitation from your host company.
  • Allow extra time near the port, where trailers and container traffic can slow the last few kilometres.

If your work also takes you to the port areas directly, see our Ahmedabad to Kandla one way taxi and Ahmedabad to Mundra one way taxi pages.

Same-day return or overnight?

A same-day return means 10–12 hours of driving plus your meeting time, which is long but possible with an early start. Because round trips are billed with a minimum of 300 km per day, a two-day trip with an overnight halt in Gandhidham is often only a little more in km terms and much easier on you. The driver’s daily allowance is added for each day. Check the taxi tariff for per-km rates.

For a drop only, for example when you will fly back from Kandla airport or take a train from Gandhidham station, book the Gandhidham one way taxi and pay for one direction.

Places worth adding to the trip

Gandhidham is not a sightseeing town, but if you have a free afternoon there are a few options nearby:

  • Anjar – one of the older towns of Kutch, a short drive away.
  • Bhuj – roughly an hour away, with its palaces, museums and craft villages.
  • Mandvi – the beach town on the Gulf of Kutch, reached along the coast past Mundra.

In winter, you can extend a business trip into a short Kutch holiday. Our Ahmedabad to Bhuj car rental page covers the White Rann side of the region.

Pickup in Ahmedabad and drop in Gandhidham

We pick up from offices on SG Highway and in Prahlad Nagar, from industrial areas such as Changodar, Sanand, Vatva and Naroda, and from homes, hotels, the railway stations and the airport. In Gandhidham, regular drop points include offices in the main commercial areas, Adipur, Gandhidham railway station, hotels on the highway, the Kandla port area and the SEZ.

If you are arriving in Ahmedabad by flight and going straight to Kutch, tell us your flight number. The driver can meet you at the terminal and head out directly, avoiding a detour into the city.

Which vehicle to choose

For one or two executives, a Swift Dzire is economical and comfortable on the highway. An Innova Crysta is a better choice for senior management visits or when you need space to work in the back seat. Teams of seven or more travelling to a plant or a port site can book a 9 seater Winger or an 11 seater Tempo Traveller. Tolls and parking are charged extra on all vehicles.

Tips for a smooth business trip

  • Save the driver’s number and share it with your host so they can guide him to the right gate or office.
  • Keep printed copies of gate passes and appointment letters; mobile signal can be patchy inside large port areas.
  • If your schedule changes during the day, inform the driver early so he can adjust the route between sites.
  • For regular visits, for example every week or month, tell us your pattern so we can plan cars in advance.
  • Keep toll and parking receipts together if you need them for your company’s expense claim.
